The school sent out a message about early dismissal because of the weather. I've pasted a copy of this message below (in blue) which you may have gotten as an email, text, or phone message. Please stay tuned for information from the school district with regard to school on Friday.
This is a message from Stellar Elementary School. Due to the extreme rain conditions and flooding that is occurring and predicted weather forecasts, we are beginning release of students starting at 12:30pm. Parents who would like to pick-up their students may do so starting at this time. Students will need to be picked up from the main office. Bus transportation will still be available starting at normal release time today, which is 2:30 p.m. Students not picked up prior to 2:30, will be released as normal. There are a number of road closures in the area, due to street flooding, so please check the City of Thornton website, or Colorado Dept of Transportation website for additional information relating to road closures. Additionally, we do have standing water in areas around the school and in the parking lots, so please enter the school property carefully. Again, we are beginning release of students now, if parents would like to pick-up their students at this time, you will need to do so from the school office and will need to show your picture ID. Please check the District Website for notifications relating to school cancellations for Friday, 9/13. School closure information will also be released on all major local TV stations and radio stations. If you have questions on this, please contact the school at 720-972-2340.
